Did you know we have a new art installation inside the store? We do — it’s a display of beautiful woven pieces by our very own Jessi Highet, who you may have taken a class from!
The work is called material//process, and you can read Jessi’s statement on it below:
“material//process is a group of twenty-seven works woven over the past two years. They represent an exploration of color, pattern, shape, and texture. These woven pieces employ predominantly tapestry techniques. Two of the twenty-seven arewarp-faced weavings done on an eight harness floor loom. Whereas tapestry weaving invites experimentations in shape, color, and texture, warp-faced weaving focuses on pattern creation and the interplay of warp and weft. For me, weaving is a calm activity that naturally invites the development of new creative practices.”
Take a sneak peek at the display below:
Of course, the very best way to see material//process is to come to the Studio and check it out. In person, you get to experience the relative differences in size and see more detail. You’ll also be able to get a closer look at the textures and materials that Jessi used. So if you’re in New York, come by and see it!
