Knitting patterns often seem to be written in a different language or even a secret code! In this class we will learn to decipher commonly used abbreviations and symbols and how to recognize unique design specific instructions. After this class you will understand the structure of knitting patterns, what schematic diagrams are and how to use them. We will also cover chart reading for both flat and circular patterns and how they help to visualize a design. You’ll be able to decipher your patterns in no time.
We’ll also demystify the basics of using Ravelry to keep track of your projects: adding photos, using the queue and favorites features, searching for patterns, researching yarn, finding groups, digging deeper into the pattern information, and using the appropriate features to search your paper books and magazines, yarn stash and needle inventories. If you’ve ever struggled to use Ravelry on your own, this class is a perfect way to get the grand tour!
