With over 100 classes, we know our class schedule can be hard to choose from! That’s why we’ve introduced Workshop Tracks, a system to help you pinpoint the perfect workshops for you.
We’ve grouped all of our workshops into categories, or Tracks, to help you find which classes will work best for you. (For example, if your goal is to learn how to make a sweater, you should check out the workshops in the Garment Making track.)
One workshop may appear in a variety of tracks (e.g. Intro to Fair Isle is included in both the Intro To track and the Color-work track). Most workshops can be taken in any order, excepting ones that have an intro and an intermediate level or those marked with level 1 & level 2.
In addition to a Track category, each workshop description lists the necessary skill prerequisites. Please be sure to check the prerequisites, and if you are uncertain about whether a workshop is the right fit, feel free to call us at 212-243-9070. And remember: if you don’t see a class you want on our monthly schedule, you can always book a private lesson! Click here to view our current schedule and book online.
When you look on the schedule to see what workshops are being offered this month, you’ll notice that each workshop description lists a code that corresponds with its appropriate track or tracks (pictured above). Continue reading to learn more about what the codes mean.
Basic Stitches (B)
Since “Basic Stitches” workshops do not require knowledge of increases or decreases, they’re the perfect way to follow Knitting 1 or Crochet 1. Higher-level yarncrafters can learn the nearly endless possibilities of basic knit or crochet skills.
Intro To (I)
For anyone who wants to move beyond the basics, we’ve grouped together all of our “Intro to” technique workshops. In many cases, these workshops are the starting point for higher level classes.
“Fundamentals” are the building blocks of your yarncrafting. In these workshops, we feature the core skills that every knitter and crocheter needs to have.
Add a little color into your life (and your yarncrafting!) Using the Colorwork track, yarncrafters of all levels can learn a variety of ways to spice up their projects.
Project Making (P)
Do you want to make mittens, hats, wonderful accessories, and more? In “Project Class” workshops, we’ll guide you through an entire pattern to help you complete all kinds of projects.
Garment Making (G)
If your goal is to make clothing for yourself, get yourself on the Garment Making track. These workshops include everything from how to measure gauge, to blocking, finishing, pattern reading, fit, and more.
Stitch Patterns & Textures (S)
Add a little texture and interest to your stitches. With the Stitch Patterns & Textures track, both beginner and intermediate yarncrafters can pick up new techniques like cables, lace, and more.
Techniques & Tips (T)
Ready to bring your yarncrafting from “homemade” to “handmade”? Hone your craft with workshops based on our own expert tricks, techniques & tips.
