The New Coney Island Opens . . . In Our Window

The Wonder Wheel, Parachute Jump, Cyclone, Elephant Hotel, curly fries, hot dogs & sea gulls. . . it can only mean one thing, CONEY ISLAND! Come see Coney Island as you have never seen it before, all made from yarn. The Lion Brand Yarn Studio’s summer window is a fiber celebration of all things Coney Island.
Come see the world famous Wonder Wheel, made from a spinning wheel!

The Cyclone, the one and only roller coaster that has been thrilling visitors and locals since 1927.

On the other side of the boardwalk you will find the Parachute Jump, Welcome to Coney Island Grin, and for a little trip down memory lane, the Elephant Hotel.

Look closely at the Parachute Jump, recognize anything familiar? The top is made from a yarn swift.

The boardwalk is populated by 45 finger puppets made from our own Studio staff. There are all sorts of animals, monsters, people, and . . .

one bride!

The seagulls are having a ball.

No visit to Coney Island would be complete without a trip to the hot dog stand.

Come by this summer and see all the fun!

I always keep thinking and saying that the human creativity is limited only by the will; that there is no one day that I learn something constructive/insteresting; and also some things I learn every day makes me wonder…………..the imagination is without limits.
Your window is always something! I wish I could sometime visit with you!

You guys are incredibly talented! The window is wonderful and it took me back 42 years to a date at Coney Island. Thanks! See you on my next trip to NY.

Your window is amazing! It brings back childhood memories – especially the Cyclone (I had to take my younger sister on that ride….. she was all set to do it twice – not me). You folks have the most wonderful ideas. Love the seagulls; any possibility of a pattern or a how-to?
Studio says: We are so glad you like the window. Everything in the window is created as one of a kind pieces by our amazing staff and fiber artists. I’m afraid there are no patterns to anything you see. Experiment and play with yarn, that’s the way we figure out how we want to make things!

Very creative! If I ever make it to New York I will be visiting your store. I make it a point to visit yarn stores wherever I travel.

I’ve spent many a happy summer day on Coney Island. No trip was complete without a ride on one of the three that you showed. Left NY for TX 40 years ago, so this was quite a trip down memory lane!
What wonderfully creative folks you all are!
