Bummer! I can’t EVER make any of those times and I am dying to see the Silver Reed in action. I work 9-6pm to support my yarn habit and it’s hard enough to make it to the studio before 7pm. Please, please consider having demos on Sundays, or even on Fridays (I get out of work early on Fridays).

PS. Why isn’t the studio open on Saturdays?

Studio says: Hi Grace, sorry you haven’t seen it in action yet! Sometimes we can demo the knitting machine on Fridays, but we close at 3 on Fridays, so we don’t know if you’d be able to make it. BUT don’t forget that we are open until 8 on Thursdays, so please come visit us then! As for Saturdays, since this is a family company, the Studio is closed on Saturdays to respect the religious traditions of the family that owns Lion Brand.

Patty says: Grace, it was nice meeting you yesterday, I forgot to mention, I could also try to arrange a hour private lesson for you one day. Call the Studio and I can try to figure something out that works for you.

Super bummer!! Living in the Wild,Wild West of Central Oregon I am just DYING to visit the store and, since I have a 1963-era knitting machine dismantled in my garage I would LOVE to see a video presentation of both of these classes. What about in, LBY? Virtual is the way to go!

  3. Nelda Says:

Enjoy seeing & reading the comments but am a machine knitter and would like to know how many others are out there. I mostly use Brother machines and besides knitting my own clothes I make quite a few Baby Afghans for new babies. They are so nice for a new baby to adjust to this “Big World” by being Cuddled but still being able to squirm & stretch in a Tuck Stitch Knit Light to Middle Weight Afghan.
Sure would like to get some more interested in machine knitting around here. There are some used machines around I know & I could help to get any one started by using one of my machines. However I live near Ft. Wayne, Indiana not out west.

Wish you would do an online demo of weaving with the cricket loom. I live to far away to come to the lion brand Studio in New York. I live in GA., but I would love to see a demo .

Studio says: we’ve gotten a few requests for online demos. It’s something I’d love to explore. Thanks for the suggestion. I do hope you visit us sometime!

If Nelda is interested, there is a machine knitting seminar in Peru, Indiana in April. Spring Fling and Charlere Shafer. I have a Knit King and a Singer 700 machine. I live in Alabama and we don’t have any machine knitting shops here anymore , but we do have a few machine knitters here. We get together occasionally. I plan to go to the seminar in Peru.

Studio says: Thanks, I will pass on the information. Have fun & let us know how you like it. We are offering Machine Knitting privates starting in April & our first Machine Knitting workshop in May!
