Meet Our New Artist
Introducing our newest Fiber Artist, Joetta Maue . From now until the end of October we are proud to display her wonderful work, comforts .

After recycled sweaters, felt, and freeform crochet, this is our first knitted piece.
From the artist’s blog :
comforts… I learned to knit in order to make this piece. And it was probably the piece that I was most happy with. I would not change a thing about it except keep making it…
It is about 8 ft long and 5 ft tall…so pretty big…
All the text is meant to imply another body or being, as if the "scarf" can act as a substitute for "another".
This definitely came out of… how much I missed the body of my husband, his physicality his warmth, his presence, me being away in Massachusetts and him in NYC.
Come experience a little fiber comfort at the Lion Brand Yarn Studio.

I really appreciate you introducing Joetta to us. She shows us that we don’t have to be confined to patterns. She is a true example of creativity. I can feel loneliness and long to be hugged by the scarves and feel the love that the artist and her husband share.
It’s so beautiful. I look forward to seeing more of her work.

Three cheers for a job very nicely done! I don’t know that I would have had the patience to do something quite that large, but I can see where the inspiration came from!

What a wonderful way to keep a love one’s spirit alive and have a way to wrap yourself in their love!

Wonderful and very creative.
I can understand the comforting side to a blanket.
My mother passed away in 2002 and her blanket
that she covered herself with is oneof the most treasured things for me.
