A Funny and Touching Evening of Crafting Stories

On Thursday June 4th, the Lion Brand Yarn Studio was honored to host professional storytellers Michaela Murphy and Jeffery Rudell to delight us with their tales of crafting. Michaela noted how often fiber related terms were connected with storytelling: the thread of a narrative, weaving a tale, spinning a yarn, and thus the idea for a show was born.
I personally love listening to podcasts while I knit. There’s nothing better than having someone tell you a story while you play with yarn. One of my favorite storytelling podcasts, is The Moth , so I was so excited when I found out that both Michaela and Jeffery were regular contributors and were responsible for two of my all-time favorite stories. Click on the story name to hear Michaela tell Eye Spy and Jeffery tell Animal Husbandry . My favorite knitting podcast is YarnCraft with our own Zontee and Liz.
Lion Brand has always had a wonderful section on the website allowing people to submit their stories . We decided to reach out to our customers to submit their crafting stories for our show. After reading through all the wonderful submissions, we chose five special stories from five special storytellers.
A big thank you to Jill Braun who read How it All Began , Rita Brasen, who read Bella’s Gift , Pat Myer who read Stars for the Flag , Jeanne Sarosy who read The Mad Hatter , Susan White who read Making It on the M7 . It was truly a special evening.
