Our Neighborhoods: The Village

The Village, whether you visit the West Village, East Village or Greenwich Village proper (right in the middle), has a wonderful history of art and creativity, and is now a popular neighborhood for bistros, coffee houses and small-venue performance spaces.

You can’t visit the Village without checking out “The Astor Place Cube”, a steel sculpture by Tony Rosenthal which has become a symbol of the artistic atmosphere of the neighborhood. Other historic landmarks of interest include the birthplace of Theodore Roosevelt and Greenwich Village Society For Historic Preservation.

For information on current news and events in this neighborhood, we recommend that you visit the New York Magazine website here.
