The days left before the holidays are dwindling, and we’re sure you’re furiously crafting away. However, if there are a few folks on your list that just might not get a finished object this year, we’ve put together a list of lovely gifts you can purchase that will still be a hit. Especially if you’re shopping for fellow crafters, these ideas will make great small gifts, stocking stuffers, or main gifts. Let your loved ones know you’re thinking of them, and know all about their favorite hobbies, by shopping for something crafty!
Perfect Holiday Gifts for Crafters
Gifts to Buy
One of our favorite gift ideas is the project kit, and we happen to have a beautiful one in our Manhattan Studio right now. As part of our Swans Island Company trunk show, we’re featuring two of their project kits, which include a bag, all the necessary yarn (in several color options), and a pattern. The Phoebe Hat & Mitts Kit ($65) comes in three fun colors, and it’s pre-wrapped in an eco-conscious tote (which can be used again, or as a project bag!). The Edelweiss Cowl Kit ($55) is a delicate colorwork pattern of flowers popping against a sea-blue background.
Some other cute ideas for crafters are crafting ‘support’ items, like a themed mug, project bag, or yarn bowl. It’s one thing to gift a crafter necessary supplies, like a beautiful new set of needles or the perfect worsted weight yarn. It’s something else entirely to outfit them with the gear that will let their crafty side shine! We love these mugs from Knit Baah Purl, and they’re just some of the many fun options we have in the Studio. We’ve also got a great Lion Brand mug, and a travel tumbler, so be sure to ask to see our selection when you stop by. We’ve also got a variety of project bags, from cute screen printed totes like this one made by Stitches in the City, and more serious travel bags that will keep even the most unruly project tamed for crafting on the go. For those creating a crafting space in their home, a yarn bowl (like our barnyard animals from Pawley Studios) is the perfect addition to any stitching corner.
These would all make fun additions to a gift you’re planning to give, or great stocking stuffers! These wrist ruler bracelets are not only practical, they’re also cute enough to wear even when you’re not crafting. There are cute colors and widths to choose from, so help your favorite crafter make a fashion statement with their favorite pastime. We are huge fans of Katrinkles stitch markers, which is why we keep so many options in the Studio! You can find a set that are perfectly themed for whoever you have in mind. Our new Lovafur faux fur pompoms have been a huge hit this fall, so we’re keeping them stocked in many fun colors. One of the best design elements is the tie closures, so you can swap them onto different projects for a new look. You could also do something fun with your gift wrapping, like tying a pom onto your ribbon instead of opting for a bow!
Kits to Create
Another fun option for holiday gifting would be to create your own project kit, based on the person’s style. Here are a few ideas we have for wonderful homemade kits, or you can ask our advice when you visit the Studio. We’re always happy to make recommendations to help you pick the perfect yarn and project for your special someone.
- The Cardiff Cowl (Crochet) pattern is available on the Lion Brand website, and you could pair with Lion Brand Collection Baby Alpaca yarn.
- The Contract Toe & Heel Socks (Knit) pattern is also on the LB website, and we’d recommend some Dyed by Darrin yarns! Pick up some Puma Sock and a single Margay Mini Skein, available only at our Studio.
- The Diagonal Eyelets Shawl (Crochet) pattern can be found on the LB website, and would also look great in Puma Sock.
- The Lace Petal Shawl (Crochet) would look lovely in our Lion Brand Collection Cotton Bamboo, or the brand new Coboo!
Give the Gift of Crafting Tools
You can always support your fellow crafter by gifting them the tools to keep on stitching! Whether you opt for the basics, like a set of high-quality needles or crochet hooks, or something that will take their crafting to the next level like a Cricket Loom or a set of blocking mats, you can’t go wrong. If you’re not sure what might make the perfect present, be sure to ask! You can let us know what the crafter on your list likes to make, or what’s on their ‘Dream Projects’ list, and we’ll help you choose just the right thing.
