Last Thursday we had a Stitching for Sandy event where yarn crafters came together to make supplies for victims of Hurricane Sandy. We were so overwhelmed by the amount of support, we actually ran out of seats! Different crafters attended the event (we even had a loom knitter!) from all over New York to support their community. We were also pleasantly surprised to have Maria Luna and Lourdes Camacho join us. These ladies were Mexico residents in New York on vacation who just happened to be walking by the studio. When they saw the sign for our event they felt moved to help and came inside!
Here is the final tally of all our donations:
- 95 hats
- 6 head-warmers
- 7 pairs of mittens
- 9 blankets
- 2 shawls
- 59 scarves
- 3 cowls
- GRAND TOTAL: 181 donations
We would like to say thank you, thank you, and thank you again to everyone who attended the event and everyone who dropped off donations! And we have to give a special thank you to our volunteers Suzy Allen, who assisted the crocheters, and Michele Thomas, who assisted the knitters.
