It’s almost here! The Shibaguyz will be joining us very soon for exciting Master Classes on September 16 & 17, and we’re also planning a book signing party for their FAB new book! Join us Sunday evening after their classes for a party to hang out with the FABULOUS Shibaguyz, talk about crochet, their book, Shiba Inu puppies, crochet, oh, and get your book signed. We’ll supply the refreshments and they’re bringing the books, so come prepared for fun!
About the Book
Complete Crochet Course is a comprehensive volume that will support beginners as well as experienced crocheters. The ShibaGuyz have, quite literally, written the book on crochet! It’s beautifully illustrated with clear photos by Jason Mullett-Bowlsby. They’ve also included 190 stitch patterns and dozens of tutorials! Their lively writing is leavened with sage advice “impatience is the enemy of learning.”
This book is thoughtfully designed to set new crocheters up for success. It opens with basic information for total beginners, such as the anatomy of a crochet hook. Then it moves beyond the basics, to a thorough discussion of yarn, including weight, fiber, construction, put up and important points to understand about yarn substitution.
The next section of the book establishes a solid foundation for pattern reading. Once you begin working yarn with crochet hooks, you’re creating stitches and fabric. The Shibaguyz present clear descriptions of the parts of a crochet stitch, where in the stitches the hook can go, and what effect that creates. This fundamental understanding of the fabric creation will ensure you’re ready to tackle any pattern.

Plus, we still have a few spots in some of their upcoming classes:
Visible Mending, Sunday September 16 Have you ever pulled your hand made items out in the fall to discover damage? Be prepared to turn an event dreaded by every knitter and crocheter into an opportunity by enrolling in this session. Learn to use yarn, thread, swatches, fabric, doilies and patches to save your handiwork! Bring some swatches and fabric to play with and anything you need to mend.
Boro & Sashiko is sold out.
Monday September 17 is all crochet! First they’ll be making Crochet Rag Rugs, so you can turn even fabric that is beyond visible mending or Boro into something beautiful and useful. Shannon & Jason will show us how to make the process of preparing the fabric easy so we can get right to the fun part!
Monday evening they’ll be sharing their innovative new technique “Shadow Cables” for amazing crochet cables on any fabric with no gaps. If you’ve seen Shannon’s Dashing Cardigan (left) in the fall issue of Interweave Crochet, and plan to make it, this is the class for you!
