The Lion Brand Yarn Studio Customer Fashion Show on May 31st was, as always, an inspiring and delightful event! More than 25 projects were proudly displayed by our models, representing hours of work and miles of yarn spent over the past year.
Several members of this winter’s Knit-along (KAL) modeled their Custom Classic Pullovers, showcasing the flexibility of the pattern and creativity of the makers.
We don’t have great still shots of every project (they were working the runway!), but check out the video below to see all the action!
Verna Nadel: Fisher’s Island Cardigan 2018 CAL. Vanna’s Choice.
Anna Leung: Zig Zag Dress Pattern-Lion Brand. Heartland (Various Colors).
Angela Simmons: Long Cardigan – Vogue Knitting Early Fall 2010. Wool Ease Thick and Quick (Cranberry, Charcoal). Ariana embroidered her astrological sign on the pocket!
Mosaic Poncho – Vogue knitting Holiday 2016. LB Collection Superwash Merino (Magenta, Night Sky).
Hooded Neck Piece – Vogue Knitting Fall 2011. LB Collection Superwash Merino (Magenta, Night Sky). Alexis’s zodiac sign is embroidered on the poncho – that’s Angela’s signature!
Patricia Sharper-Roberts: Level 3 Knit Vest, Lion’s Pride Woolspun. Love the vest! Patricia to do a gauge swatch and make changes for the # of stitches to cast on. She says, “I’m glad LBYS has Sweater School with Gretchen!”
Kim Woodberry: Flax (Ravelry). Mandala in Unicorn.
Verna Nadel: Saturday Cardigan (LB pattern). Lion’s Pride Woolspun. Verna writes: “I originally completed Level 3 Vest L40190 and didn’t like the way it looked on me. Therefore I ripped the entire vest out and made this cardigan. I changed the seed stitch fronts to the Roman Rib stitch pattern.” A great example of staying open-minded and creative problem-solving!
Anna: Lancaster Pullover-Lion Brand. Heartland (Various Colors).
Paul Stark: Top down raglan in 24/7 Cotton, his own design! His biggest takeaway? “Learned good humor!”
Mary McWilliams: Laurie by Josée Paquin, Ravelry. LBC Superwash Merino (Peony). This is a popular sweater pattern knitted in the round. The back yoke is knit first, and then down to armhole. She learned short rows to complete her project.
Christine Morrison: Criss Cross Shrug pattern, Homespun. Shrug can be worn a number of different ways and is perfectly warm for November and Dececember. Christine says, “I’ve been coming to LBYS for about 4 years and have been learning so much. Thank you!”
Crystal Venable: Crystal maximized her time on the runway by showcasing two projects. She’s wearing an asymmetric knit shawl called Transient by Knit Purl Hunter, which was a knit-along project. Scarfie (Charcoal, Magenta). AND Christian’s hat by Agnes Kutas. Touch of Alpaca in Black.
Jessica Woodberry: Jessica is a Shawl in a Ball superfan! She showcased her South Bay Shawlette, LB pattern. Shawl in a Ball (Peaceful Earth). AND the Wise Hilda Basic Triangle Shawl, Ravelry. Shawl in a Ball (Healing Teal).
Christine: Misty Haze Cowl, Shawl in a Ball. She writes: “This yarn is so soft and knits up fast. Can be worn on cool days and anywhere it’s cool inside. Can be worn over the head as a hood, too.”
Alexis Oustinoff: Based on Cecily Glowik MacDonald’s Goodale Cardigan. She made alterations to the cardigan fronts and added beads for a truly unique project. LB Collection Superwash Merino in Antique.
Patricia: Filet Crochet Top (Arabia’s pattern!) 24/7 Cotton in Magenta. Patricia shares: “I became a tester for Arabia for this pattern for people who wear the medium or large size. Fun, fun fun!”
Foolproof by Louise Zass-Bangham. Lion Brand Sock-Ease Solids (Dyed by Darrin).
I Love Cooking Dishtowel by Kalliopi Aronis. Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton (Pink). The dishtowel is her own design – isn’t it lovely and functional?

This sweater was from this year’s in-studio KAL, modified with a Barbara Walker textured pattern.”
Kim: Custom Classic Pullover, 2018 KAL. Touch of Alpaca Blush and Grey Heather. Kim learned to pick up stitches around the neckline to finish her beautiful KAL project.
Alexis: 2018 Custom pullover KAL sweater, heavy emphasis on the “custom” part! LB Heartland in Kings Canyon & Katmai. “Gretchen’s playlist is knit into every stitch!”
Patricia: Custom Classic Pullover, 2018 KAL. Superwash Merino Cashmere (discontinued). “Finished my sweater just in time for the fashion show, I didn’t have time to wet block it so I’m doing body blocking!”
Verna: Custom Classic Pullover 2018 KAL. LBC Merino Yak Alpaca. Verna learned to add cables to a basic sweater for her project.
