Several new yarns have made their arrival in our Manhattan Studio, just in time for summer crafting. Among them are two fantastic cotton yarns: Flikka and LB Collection Cotton Jeans. If you’ve been longing for cottony yarns for lightweight, easy-care projects, then these came just in time. Read on for more details about each of these fibers, and stop by the studio to see & feel them for yourself!
Our New Cotton Yarns
In several Scandinavian languages, Flikka (or flicka) means girl. But more than just ‘young woman’, it’s also synonymous with beauty, elegance, and grace. Our new Flikka yarn encapsulates all these qualities! With coquettish flecks of colors against a natural base, you’ll be crafting projects with subtle personality. This lightweight yarn (CYC 3) is perfect for summer pieces: shawls, tops, shrugs, and even sweet baby gifts. It’s 50% Cotton, for comfort and lightness, and 50% Polyester for sensible care. You’ll get 196yd per 3.5oz skein. Above, see just three of the 11 available colors!
Since this yarn is so new, we’re still creating all the wonderful patterns that will be uniquely perfect for it. But to get you started, here are two ideas, one knit, one crochet.
Our Kennebunk Cardigan (Knit) is a great project if you’re looking for a simple cardigan. Whether it’s your first attempt at a sweater, or you’re an experienced knitter who wants to whip one up quickly, you’ll love this cardigan.
The Playdate Cardi (Crochet) is for a slightly younger set, but it’s no less adorable! For both these cardigans, you’ll want to check the pattern to see how much yarn you’ll need for your preferred size.
LB Collection Cotton Jeans
We’ve embraced the beloved quality of your favorite pair of jeans, and captured it in a yarn! LB Collection Cotton Jeans is a 100% Cotton DK weight yarn, with the look and feel of real denim. It’s ideal for sweaters, baby items, and lightweight throws. With 218yd in each 3.5oz skein, you’ll only need a couple to complete the project you have in mind. Since this yarn is so new, we don’t yet have patterns to recommend. But, you could substitute for any project that asks for CYC 3 yarn – just make sure you swatch first!
