On a chilly Sunday morning, 20 eager knitters filled our upstairs classroom space to join Melissa Morgan-Oakes to learn how to make socks in a very special way . . . toe up and two at a time!
After learning the brilliant Judy’s Magic Cast on, and practicing it a few times, out came the two colors. Everyone cast on for two socks at a time. Using different colored yarn, helped us all from getting mixed up.
Between stories of Melissa’s chickens and orchard, we worked on our foot and anxiously awaiting the fun part. Here’s an entire class of students proudly holding up their socks
When it came to turning the heel, there were many “oh I get it” moments.
Although the wrap & turns made some of our heads swim, with Melissa’s expert guidance, the whole class ended up with a pair of socks!
