This is a guest post by Elayne, one of our wonderful customers…
My little 4 year old grandson watched me reading a knitting magazine and decided that he needed the picture of the tiger that was in the Debbie Bliss Winter 2011 edition. It was meant for a pillow and made from a yarn that his mom deemed “unsuitable” for a little one. Luckily Lion Brand had all the colors needed in the Wool-Ease line.
It was a task to create the right size and find a simple pullover that worked with the correct gauge and fit the tiger properly on the front of the sweater, which was made extra long for a tall, thin pre-schooler. It was a size 4 tailored to fit. Oh, and he wanted stripes on the back and the arms.
A little extra math and 3 tries at the needle size (thank you for my Boye’s interchangeables bought at the Lion Brand Yarn Studio) and we got it right.
Between the Studio in NY and the Outlet in NJ, I found all the colors needed. The new Lion Brand Bonbons were a special treat to add that little extra color. I used the metallic green for the eyes and it was a fabulous choice as you can see in the photo.
The Bonbons are a treasure for Intarsia knitting–just a little for a great color.
Lots of compliments for the sweater already and he’s only worn it twice.
Now I hear that he wants a new one for next year when he is bigger and goes to kindergarten. Can’t wait!
