Start your year off with a cool and unique skill by joining us in January 1 for Free Form Crochet, Open Dye Studio, or Crochet 1!
Free Form Crochet
Yarnbombing is the act of covering anything, from a chair to an entire bicycle, with yarn. While it can be knit or crochet, this class will focus on yarnbombing through crochet. Students will learn how to develop a plan to cover unusual shapes and combine stitch patterns to create their own style.
You can then go on to use this to yarnbomb (legally, of course). It doesn’t have to be street art if that’s not your thing — you can yarnbomb household decorations to make something truly unique!
Date: Sunday, January 1, 2:00 – 5:00 pm
Tuition: $60 / 3 hour session
Skill Prerequisites: Chain, single crochet, half-double, double, triple, working in the round, and pattern reading
Open Dye Studio
This open studio is for those who are already familiar with the basics of dyeing with acid dyes. Not a class, but a group for yarn dyeing enthusiasts! This guided open studio session provides a place to come and experiment, try out your ideas and learn some more tricks of the trade. This event is lead by Darrin, whose beautiful hand-dyed yarns we sell in store.
Date: Sunday, January 1, 1:00 – 4:00 pm
Tuition: $50 / 3 hour session (Price includes jacquard, Rit and food safe dyes, rubber gloves, cooking vessel, and all other dyeing accessories for use during class.)
Skills Prerequisite: Knowledge of basic yarn dyeing with acid dyes
Crochet 1
Get started with crochet in this class for total beginners. Crochet 1 introduces the chain and single crochet in a small group so students can be sure to get the individual attention they need. We’ll also learn to understand what’s on a yarn label, read the pattern and demonstrate the seam to make these wristers.
Our “1, 2, 3” classes are designed to be self paced so you can move to the next step whenever you’re ready. Altogether these 3 classes will prepare you to make basic afghans, accessories and garments. When you’re ready for more, you’ll be able to take any of our “Advanced Beginner” workshops. Our Studio classes are always capped at 8 students so you can be sure you’ll get the individual attention you need.
Date: Sunday, January 1, 12:00 – 2:00 pm
Tuition: $50 / 2 hour session, or purchase all 3 sessions for $130 and get $20 off
