Whatever your yarncraft of choice, socks are a fun and challenging project. Now you can learn to make them at LBYS in either knit OR crochet!
In our Crochet Socks and our Socks with Afterthought Heel class, you’ll learn to make gorgeous footwear in your favorite yarn.
These socks are a perfect first project to learn many new skills, including working in the round, post stitches, decreases, and tailoring to your size. You will come out of the class with a finished sock and all the skills you need to make its mate. You’ll also have a whole battery of new techniques that you can carry over into other, more complicated, projects!
Dates: Thursdays, March 2, March 9, and March 16, 6:30-8:00 pm
Tuition: $65 / Three 90 minute sessions
Skill Prerequisites: Must know single, double, and triple crochet and be able to work them unsupervised
Socks with Afterthought Heel
In this class, you’ll learn the basics of knitting in the round on double pointed needles while you knit this ankle sock. The sock has an afterthought heel, which is one of the easiest heels to learn. You don’t need to do any short rows, and if the heel ever wears out you can replace it! It’s a great introduction to sock-making, and will allow you to elevate your knitting skills while making a useful project.
Dates: Sundays, March 5 and March 12, 2:00 – 4:00 pm
Tuition: $65 / Two 2-hour classes
Prerequisite Skills: Must know how to knit, purl, cast on, bind off & simple increases & decreases and be able to work them without supervision
