Are your hands cold? Want to make something to cover them up? We’ve got the perfect class for you, whether you knit or crochet!
Coming up at the Studio, you can take either My First Knit Gloves or Crochet Mittens (or both, if you’re an omni-crafter) next week. For either class, you need a basic knowledge of the craft you’re using, but you certainly don’t have to be an expert!
Come check out these classes at LBYS and you (and your loved ones) will always have cozy hands.
My First Gloves
Gloves may look complicated, but once you learn the steps you’ll be making gloves in no time. In this three-part class you will learn to knit a 2-row buttonhole, work in the round, pick up stitches and weave in ends to close up any gaps.
We’ll also talk about pattern modifications for different sizes, ‘fingerless’ and flip top options.
Dates: 3 Tuesdays, February 14, 21, and 28, 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Tuition: $75 / Three 2-hour sessions
Prerequisite Skills: Must know how to knit, purl, cast on, & bind off, recognize the knit and purl stitch, work simple increases & decreases in a pattern without supervision. Familiarity with knitting in the round on DPNs a plus, but not required.
Learn to crochet mittens for the entire family! In this class we’ll be making a single mitten to explore the construction and shaping used to make mittens (and fingerless gloves!) including working flat and in the round, the decreasing techniques, and pattern reading you’ll need to keep your hands warm and toasty!
Date: Wednesday, February 15, 5:00 – 8:00 pm
Tuition: $60/ 3 hour session
Prerequisite Skills: Must have a solid understanding of the basic stitches and the holes in a stitch and a chain. Familiarity with simple decreases and basic pattern reading is required.
