On September 14th, the Lion Brand Yarn Studio is thrilled to welcome the weaving guru herself, author of The Weaver’s Idea Book: Creative Cloth on a Rigid Heddle Loom, Jane Patrick, to teach a master class.
by Jane Patrick
The finger-controlled techniques you will learn in this class are the perfect tool to have in your weaving bag of tricks. They can offer just the right touch to the border of a skirt or the cuff of a jacket, or help to create entire fabrics. Many of these techniques take weaving out of the “grid” to create curvy lines — something I love in a piece of cloth.
In this workshop we’ll explore some of my favorite techniques, applications for using them, and ways to push them to do even more for one-of-kind fabrics far away from those mass-produced by machine. Though these techniques are accomplished by simply manipulating threads by hand, the results can be sophisticated and stunning.
