We are honored to have Suzann Thompson as the featured fiber artist at the Studio! You may recognize Suzann from her writing and her teaching, but she is also an accomplished fiber artist!
Suzann Talks about Her Work
“How can anyone resist all the gorgeous yarn, fabric, buttons, and beads in this world? I can’t. I love to knit, crochet, sew, and I feel compelled to sew buttons on almost everything! My wall hangings incorporate knitting, crochet, quilting, and embellishment.”
About Suzann
“My mother taught me to knit when I was in second grade, and I sat on the couch, sliding down and down with each row until my back was on the seat of the couch and my neck bent at a ninety-degree angle. When this became too uncomfortable, I’d heave myself up, get back to knitting, and start the slow descent again…” Read more on her website
In the Studio
On Thursday, May 8th, Suzann visited the LBY Studio to explain how she evolved her unique style of knitted and quilted fabric. She calls her work “Textile Fusion” because she combines knittting, crochet, quilting and embellishment to spectacular effect. She told us she created this style because she loved all these crafts and couldn’t bear to choose one. “Passionate Heart” will be on display in the Studio until early August. Be sure to take a close look at her amazing work!
