I love playing around with 3D Crochet! The picture to the right is a necklace I designed using some of the stitches you’ll learn in this class, including the bullion stitch. Together we’ll go over how 3D stitches can create pop-up projects and add texture to your work.
This class could also be considered a bit of an introduction to free-form crochet, since you’ll learn to make unique textured stitches and arrange them into patterns yourself. Free-form crochet is a little like a crochet version Parkuor free-running; you find yourself trying to find more inventive or interesting ways to get from point A to point B (instead of just crocheting in a straight line).
What I really love about this class is watching students have that eye-opening moment when they realize they are starting to design projects themselves. I’ve had students come in saying they aren’t interested in learning to create original designs, and halfway through the class they are already thinking up ways to make their own crochet jewelry!
Here’s a tip we talk about in class that you can try if you’re thinking about signing up: Start playing with yarn-overs as you crochet. You can try adding more in each stitch, or many in a single stitch. Yarn-overs are what give many 3D crochet stitches their thickness and height, so start playing and enjoy!

Tuition: $55/ 3 hour session
Are you stuck with plain single or double crochet projects? Does your crochet look flat? Then this is the time to pop up the volume. 3D stitches will make your garment look interesting without changing a pattern. We will learn how to make different types of bobbles and post stitches and how to add texture to your fabric.
