Two brand new yarns have made their way to our Manhattan Studio, which were previously only available at Joann’s. Seize the opportunity, and check out these two beautiful fibers: Ombre Life and Amazing Lace. For more information about these yarns, and some pattern suggestions to get you started (knit and crochet), keep reading! And stop by the Studio soon.
Ombre Life
This special yarn was called “a dream come true” by a crafter who’s been using Lion Brand yarns for 35 years! If you’re a fan of the gentle color striping of Mandala, then you’ll love this finer weight option. Ombre Life is a perfect blend of Acrylic and Cotton (50/50), which will have a great feel and drape, while being very easy to care for. Four strands are wound side by side to create a dozen shades that transition from light to dark. Each cake is 3.5oz (100g), measures 437yd (400m), and is a CYC 2 Fine weight yarn.

And here’s a fun crochet pattern to try with any of these shades! The Shaded Color Shawl (Crochet) works up with two cakes, so you’ll want to choose two that are complementary. It’s a Level 2 Easy (Beginner +) pattern, so you’ll be flying through your chains with a lovely, lightweight shawl for cool summer evenings. Stay tuned for more new patterns for this beautiful yarn!

Amazing Lace Yarn
Amazing Lace Yarn lives up to its name. This CYC 1 Superfine weight yarn is the new go-to for all your lightest-weight projects. Finally, the lace-weight yarn you’ve been waiting for! You’ll get the feeling of cashmere without spending an arm and a leg. The palette of 6 yarns is exquisitely vibrant. The Acrylic and Nylon blend (70% Acrylic, 30% Nylon) will have a luscious drape, and excellent stitch definition. If you’re wary about the lightest weight, don’t be! You can use larger needles or hooks and create a lacy effect, hold multiple strands together, or, run with a chunkier weight yarn for an unexpectedly marled look. Each cake is 5.3oz (150g) and 1017yd (930m), so you’ll have enough for almost any pattern with just one.

Amazing Lace Yarn Patterns
Here are two lovely patterns to give Amazing Lace a whirl. The Diagonal Eyelets Shawl (Crochet) (below left) makes the most of the cashmere-like feel as well as the fantastic stitch definition that’s possible with this yarn. And since it takes just one cake, it’s a great project to travel with this summer, that won’t warm up your lap too much! The Easy Triangle Shawl (Knit) (below right) is an equally fabulous option, and you’ll love the stitch variation you get with this yarn. It’s another one-cake wonder, and it’s easy enough to get you thinking about gift ideas for the rest of the year.
