can the Kitchen Cotton yarns be bleached—as in a dishcloth. I’ve been told it cannot—and would LOVE to hear otherwise–since that would make me not want to use it for anything in the kitchen!!
Hi dbrock, the care instructions on Kitchen Cotton (and all of our yarns) state the way to wash a project that Lion Brand thinks will maximize its life and keep its colors looking great. Kitchen Cotton comes in such great bright colors that it would be a shame if someone bleached them thinking it wouldn’t affect the colors and the colors faded.
However, that being said, a plied 100% cotton like Kitchen Cotton IS extremely durable, so if you think that every once in awhile, you want to bleach it, that’s definitely up to you. Alternately, you may instead want to use a color-safe bleach alternative or an oxygen-based cleaner. Hope that helps!
