Each month, we offer knitting and crochet classes. In addition, there will be a revolving schedule of exciting technique and project workshops taught by our staff, as well as by guest teachers. Check back the first of each month for a new schedule.

Class/Workshop Policy

• You must pay in full to reserve space in a class or workshop.
• You may cancel a class or workshop one week in advance for a full refund or store credit.
• You may cancel a class or workshop up to 48 hours in advance for store credit only.
• If you cancel a class or workshop less than 48 hours prior to the start of class, we will not be able to refund or reschedule you for any reason.
• Beginning Knitting or equivalent skills required for all Knitting workshops. Beginning Crochet or equivalent skills required for all Crochet workshops. Please check the individual requirements for each workshop. If you have any questions, please ask before you book.

CROCHET 1 Beginning Crochet

Let us help you discover the wonderful world of crochet! In this two week class you will learn the chain and the four basic crochet stitches. At the end of the second session you will be able to crochet a cute scarf.

KNITTING 1 Beginning Knitting

Start learning a craft you'll cherish for a lifetime! In this two-week class, you will learn to cast on, work the knit and purl stitches and bind off. You will also learn the basics of gauge and yarn types. By the end of the second session you'll be ready to make your first scarf!

CROCHET 2 Beyond the Basics

Now that you've mastered scarves, learn everything beyond the square! In this two-hour class you will learn increasing, decreasing, yarn substitution, importance of gauge, basic pattern reading, the difference in yarn weights and hook sizes, and the all - important, how to read a ball band. You will be introduced to crochet stitch patterns to expand your repertoire.

KNITTING 2 Beyond the Basics

Move beyond the scarf. In this two-hour class, you will learn how to increase and decrease. We will teach pattern reading and demystify all those abbreviations and symbols. By the time you finish this class, you will be ready to start on your first hat, shawl, or simple sweater.

Thursday Yarncraft Night

The second Thursday of every month is open yarncrafting night. Looking for a place to hang out and knit or crochet with friends or meet other yarncrafters? Join us for a relaxing group. Not a class, just a place to meet. Space is limited, so seating is first come first served.

Amigurumi Club

The third Wednesday of every month belongs to the Amigurumi! Come share your love of these adorable creatures. Drop in anytime and join the fun. Pick from one of our 130 Amigurumi patterns, or bring your own pattern. Also, we love show and tell! Please bring in your favorites to show off to the group.

MASTER CLASSES

Shirley Paden's Sweater Design

In this class students will learn to custom-make their own sweater patterns. They will work through organizing the components involved in constructing two different types of pullovers with a round neckline. The first is the Classic Body silhouette that is based on the bust measurements. It is worked straight to the armholes, then, the armholes and neckline are shaped. The second is the Double Tapered Body silhouette. This sweater type is shaped along the natural curves of the body to the armholes, then, the armholes and neckline are shaped. Both pullover types will be planned with set-in sleeves. Students will be walked through accurately measuring a swatch, taking body measurements, writing a pattern, and calculating yarn amounts. Measuring a garment will also be reviewed.

Debby Ware - Baby Sweater Workshop

Learn how to create your own one of a kind baby cardigan sweater in this all-day workshop with well-known author and designer Debby Ware. Debby will show you the many choices you have and the many easy embellishment techniques that you can use to design your own sweater for any baby or toddler you may know. Ruffles, pockets, i- cords, perfect pom-poms, unusual edgings, duplicate stitching and more will be taught. You will discover you can use these techniques in all your knitting projects - not just for babies! If you’ve never knit a sweater, learn the basics of sweater construction and more in this wonderful workshop.

Project Crochet & Knitting with Tracey

Have an unfinished project that you need help completing? Want to learn a new technique or start a brand new project? Come work with Tracey on any project in knit or crochet. This class is on going. You can pay as you go, or book 4 sessions at a time for a reduced rate. Sessions do not have to be used consecutively.

Sweater School - For Knitters

Finally get over your fear of sweater knitting & let us help you every step of the way. You can bring a pattern you always wanted to try, or we can help you find the perfect pattern. In the first session you will be measured and we will discuss how to adapt an existing pattern to fit you perfectly, or (if you have previous sweater knitting experience) how to design a simple sweater for yourself. We will walk you through yarn selection & swatching. In the following three sessions you will come back and work though your sweater from cast on to finishing. Because this class is on going, your sessions do not have to be used consecutively. Take your time knitting and use the sessions when you need them.

Crochet Lace and Filet Crochet

This workshop explores the exciting world of lace and Filet Crochet. You will learn how to create lace-which is a more open version of fancy crochet stitches, and Filet Crochet, which relies on simple mesh, in which stitches can be filled in or left open to create a pattern.

Intro to Amigurumi

What are Amigurumi? Amigurumi are the endearing little knitted or crocheted dolls, animals or objects you see popping up everywhere. In this workshop you will learn the basic amigurumi skills: single crochet, basic increasing and decreasing, simple pattern reading, and basic seaming, which will allow you to make almost any amigurumi. They make wonderful short projects and gifts.

Gorgeous Gloves (NEW)

Have you learned how to use double pointed needles and need a challenging project to practice your new skill? These luxurious lace gloves build upon a basic lace pattern, which will allow you to improve your increasing and decreasing skills too. Knit them in the LBC Cashmere for a delicate and soft pair, or use the LBC Superwash Merino for more durability. Either way, they are so soft you'll want to wear them all the time!

Machine Knitting - Level 1

In this workshop, you will learn the basics of the Silver Reed Knitting Machine. See how fast your stockinette will go! You will learn cast on, cast off, simple increases and decreases, as well as problem solving. This class is limited to four people.

How to Block Your Garment

Blocking is what makes a knit or crochet piece look perfect. In this demo class, you will learn when to steam block, when to wet block, when to iron and when not to. You will learn about blocking wires, boards, and how to make your finished garment perfect!

Intro to Intarsia - Make a Scarf

Learn to master multiple color knitting, and working with bobbins. You will learn to make this wonderful intarsia scarf and conquer the basics of intarsia at the same time!

Continental Knitting

In Continental knitting, sometimes known as European knitting, or left-hand knitting, the yarn is held in the left hand. Continental knitting is the more efficient method of knitting, requiring the shortest number of specific hand-motions per stitch. This knitting style is often easier to learn for people with crocheting experience, since the way the yarn is fed is very similar to crochet. In this class you will learn how easy it is to convert to Continental knitting and a k1 p1 rib will never be the same!

Intro to Lace

That perfect lace scarf is just a few YOs and SSKs away. Learn the decreases and increases you need to make perfect lacy creations. Learn how to follow a chart, put in a safety line and other tricks of lace. We will work on several different lace patterns and then cast on to make your dream scarf.

Intro to Weaving: Fancy Fun Scarf

This class is an introduction to hand weaving on the rigid table Cricket loom. The student will learn how to dress the loom, weave plain structures, incorporate fancy and plain yarns to their scarf project, and play with different yarn textures. At the end of the workshop, you will bring home a beautiful fancy fun scarf.

Slip Stitch Knitting (NEW)

Explore this simple, et stunning technique to create multi-colored work. Slip stitch knitting is a knitting method used to add color to patterns without carrying more than one strand of yarn at a time. Forget the bobbins of intarsia or the multiple strands of Faire Isle, and get stunning patterns and textures, one color at a time! Perfect for hats, shawls, mittens, bags, and more!

Two Color Jacquard Crochet

Jacquard Crochet is a simple but effective technique, which allows the crafter to add color patterns to crochet. This beautiful technique creates a sturdy fabric that can be used to make everything from small household items, such as purses and bowls, to clothing and accessories.

Crochet Granny Square (NEW)

In this workshop we will explore 4 different ways to make the famous Granny Square. We will be working several beautiful Lion Brand Patterns to help you master this favorite.

Tunisian Crochet - Fancy Stitches!

Explore Tunisian beyond the knit and purl stitch. Continue to explore this wonderful technique with five more Tunisian crochet stitches. Take your Tunisian Crochet to the next level! Some previous experience with Tunisian Crochet is helpful, but not required.

Intro to Cables

Cables look impressive and are easier than you think. This course covers how to use a cable needle, how to cable without a cable needle, reading a cable pattern or chart, how to make cables that twist to the left or twist to the right, terms and abbreviations. You will learn how to create several different cable patterns and design your perfect cable scarf!

Get En-"gauged"

Why spend all that time knitting a sweater that doesn't fit? Calculating gauge is often the most intimidating aspect of knitting, but it's also the most important for fitted garments. We'll examine how different types of yarn and needles behave, how to take gauge and knit a gauge swatch, and the importance of reading the ball band. You will learn how to swatch flat for an in- the-round pattern, and how to adjust a pattern size by switching yarn.

Knitting from the Top Down / Raglan Cardi

Knitting from the top down means virtually no seaming! In this class you will learn the basics principles of the top down raglan, and then apply them to making this flattering raglan, all-in-one piece cardigan.

Natural Fiber Dyeing

This demo workshop will introduce you to the wonderful world of natural dyes! Natural dyestuffs made from plants, minerals and even insects create a unique and varied palette of colors for your knitting and crochet projects. This workshop will take you through the steps of dyeing yarns of various fibers with natural dyestuff to create vibrant colors created by nature & learn to create your own colors using indigo, cochineal, madder, osage orange, onion skins and walnuts. Don't miss the fun!

Intro to Fair Isle - Make a Hat

Fair Isle, sometimes called stranded knitting, is a wonderful technique used to create patterns with multiple colors. In this workshop, you will be introduced to this wonderful skill by making a simple, yet showy, hat in the round.

No Pattern Socks (NEW)

Learn to make socks without having to decipher complicated patterns!
In this class you will learn all the techniques to make a sock from the toe up using short rows. The toe and the heel are identical - if you can do one, you can do the other. In class we will make a mini-sock, and you will leave with all the information you need to custom fit a sock to anyone's foot.
