addition,
there will be a revolving schedule of exciting technique and project
workshops taught by
our staff, as well as by guest teachers. Check back the first of each

- You must pay in full to reserve space in a class or
workshop.
- You may cancel a class or workshop one week in
advance for
a full refund or store

- You may cancel a class or workshop up to 48 hours in
advance for store credit

- If you cancel a class or workshop less than 48 hours

to the start of class,
we will not be able to refund or reschedule you for any reason.

Let us help you discover the wonderful world of
crochet! In this two
week class you will learn the chain and the four basic crochet

Start learning a craft
you'll cherish for a lifetime! In this two-week class, you will learn
to cast on, work the knit and purl stitches and bind off. You will also

Now that you've
mastered scarves,
learn everything beyond the square! In this two-hour class you will
learn increasing, decreasing, yarn substitution, importance of gauge,
basic pattern reading, the difference in yarn weights and hook sizes,
and the all - important, how to read a ball band. You will be
introduced to crochet stitch patterns to expand your repertoire.

KNITTING 2 Beyond the Basics

this two-hour class, you will learn how to increase and decrease. We
will teach pattern reading and demystify all those abbreviations and
symbols. By the time you finish this class, you will be ready to start
on your first hat, shawl, or simple sweater.

MASTER CLASSES
Shirley Paden's Sweater Design
Tuition: $80
/ 6 hour session (space
limited)

will be required to knit swatches in advance of class.

In this class students
will learn to custom-make their own sweater
patterns. They will work through organizing the components involved in
constructing two different types of pullovers with a round neckline.
The first is the Classic Body silhouette that is based on the bust
measurements. It is worked straight to the armholes, then, the armholes
and neckline are shaped. The second is the Double Tapered Body
silhouette. This sweater type is shaped along the natural curves of the
body to the armholes, then, the armholes and neckline are shaped. Both
pullover types will be planned with set-in sleeves. Students will be
walked through accurately measuring a swatch, taking body measurements,
writing a pattern, and calculating yarn amounts. Measuring a garment
will also be reviewed.

Sweater School - For Knitters
Tuition: $75 for

Finally get over your fear of sweater knitting &
let us help
you every step of the way. You can bring a pattern you always wanted to
try, or we can help you find the perfect pattern. In the first session
you will be measured and we will discuss how to adapt an existing
pattern to fit you perfectly, or (if you have previous sweater knitting
experience) how to design a simple sweater for yourself. We will walk
you through yarn selection & swatching. In the following three
sessions you will come back and work though your sweater from cast on
to finishing. Because this class is on going, your sessions do not have
to be used consecutively. Take your time knitting and use the sessions
when you need them.

Design Your Own Sweater: Knits that Fit and Flatter

pattern for you, if you always want to modify patterns to suit your
needs, but you don't know how, this is the class for you. In this
design workshop you will learn various body, sleeve and neck shapes,
how to properly measure yourself, how to find your perfect sweater
length, and the five key measurements you need to know to adapt any
pattern. In part two we will explore basic pattern drafting and you
will design a simple sweater.

Knitting SOS: Easy Fixes to Common Mistakes (NEW)

In this mini version
of our Knitting Surgeon class, you will learn fixes to the most common
mistakes. Learn how to "read your knitting" and recognize accidental
yarn overs, reversed directions, knitting into the stitch below and
many more. Find out how to pick up a dropped stitch, reversed a
backwards stitch mount and put in a safety line when you have to rip
out.

Entrelac is an ingenious
knitting technique that creates the illusion of a basket woven fabric
by working rows of textured diamond patterns. If you know simple

Finishing techniques help
you take your pieces from homemade-looking to professionally polished.
In this workshop you will learn all the basic finishing techniques,
working on your swatches. We will go through mattress stitch on garter
stitch, stockinette side-to-side and end-to-end, three needle bind-off,
kitchener stitch and the art of weaving in ends. If you have a project
that needs finishing, bring it to class. In the last half-hour, we
will assist you on finishing your project using the skills you just
learned. A must for every knitter.

Intro to Double Knitting

Double knitting creates an
extra warm fabric that has no wrong side. This wonderful technique can
be used with one color or two to make a reversible garment. In this
workshop you will learn the principles of double knitting, work a
single color and a two color double- sided piece. You will also work
with a picture chart for a reversible image.

exciting world of lace and Filet Crochet. You will learn how to create
lace-which is a more open version of fancy crochet stitches, and Filet

What are Amigurumi?
Amigurumi are the endearing little knitted or crocheted dolls, animals
or objects you see popping up everywhere. In this workshop you will
learn the basic amigurumi skills: single crochet, basic increasing and
decreasing, simple pattern reading, and basic seaming, which will allow
you to make almost any amigurumi. They make wonderful short projects
and gifts.

In this class you will learn casting on & joining in
the round on circular needles, double pointed needles & magic loop.
You will also try decreases in dps and magic loop. In-the-round secrets

to gauge swatch for an in the round project. In the last 1/2 hour of
the class you will receive a hat pattern, pick out your favorite
in-the-round knitting method, and get started!

How to Block Your Garment

Blocking is what makes a
knit or crochet piece look perfect. In this demo class, you will learn
when to steam block, when to wet block, when to iron and when not to.
You will learn about blocking wires, boards, and how to make your
finished garment perfect!

Continental Knitting

In Continental knitting,
sometimes known as European knitting, or left-hand knitting, the yarn
is held in the left hand. Continental knitting is the more efficient
method of knitting, requiring the shortest number of specific
hand-motions per stitch. This knitting style is often easier to learn
for people with crocheting experience, since the way the yarn is fed is
very similar to crochet. In this class you will learn how easy it is to
convert to Continental knitting and a k1 p1 rib will never be the same!

introduction to hand weaving on the rigid table Cricket loom. The
student will learn how to dress the loom, weave plain structures,
incorporate fancy and plain yarns to their scarf project, and play with
different yarn textures. At the end of the workshop, you will bring
home a beautiful fancy fun scarf.
